We are committed to developing programs that provide multiple access points to prepare our next generation of educators. Check out our programs below!

Bilingual Educator/ ACCELERATED COMMUNITY TO TEACHER PROGRAM (BE/ACTT)

The BE/ACTT program is a free, twelve-month, in-district "grow your own" teacher preparation program that seeks to cultivate BPS paraeducators and career changers of Greater Boston to become BPS teachers of record.

The program consists of  content methods courses as well as courses that introduce the foundations of racial literacy and culturally and linguistically sustaining practices. Additionally, we require participants to earn SEI Endorsement as well as participate in preparation and attempt the MTEL Communications & Literacy Test.

BE/ACTT program completers are accepted into the Teaching Fellowship, once they become BPS teachers of record.

BE/ACTT candidates are eligible to apply for the BIE Residency.

The bps TEACHING FELLOWSHIP

The BPS Teaching Fellowship is a free, accelerated program that offers programming aimed at cultivating talented, committed teachers who are reflective of and responsive to the young people of Boston. Fellows are BPS teachers of record who complete state-required coursework and fieldwork to be endorsed for initial licensure in Moderate Disabilities and ESL.

The Teaching Fellowship is the only state approved, district-based educator preparation program.

BILINGUAL INCLUSIVE EDUCATION RESIDENCY PROGRAM (BIE)

The Bilingual Inclusive Education Residency Program cultivates bilingual and multilingual paraeducators and community career-changers to become permanent teachers of record.

Utilizing a residency model residents "earn while they learn," residents spend a year working at the elbow of a mentor teacher while receiving wrap-around support for licensure requirements, earning a living wage, and working towards a Bilingual Ed Endorsement and M.Ed. in Inclusive Education from Stonehill College with Moderate Disability licensure.
