Specialist, BPS Teaching Fellowship

Jorgelina Abbate-Vaughn has worked in public education her whole career, both in the United States and abroad. A considerable portion of her work has taken place in Boston Public Schools, teaching both at the elementary and secondary levels, as well as mentoring new teachers.

Jorgelina is a strong advocate for analyzing the challenges of teaching practice within learning communities of teachers and families, from which contextualized goals and strategies to achieve those goals can be developed, implemented, monitored, and improved.

Among Jorgelina’s most cherished professional accomplishments are the decades-long relationships she has maintained with former students and their caretakers, as well as her own parental journey enriched by the shared wisdom of her colleagues.
